06/13/21–I think he’s doing good?? His lil leaf buds haven’t done anything. Checked the bottom of his stem when I replanted him today and it was kinda moldy 😬 sooo I clipped it a bit and have decided to just not water him Quite as much

06/30/21–The balcony killed him. Maybe I’ll try again next year

Right branch: still 2.5in shoot but boutta grow some moreee

06/19/21–

Bottom triplet (22.5 in) is for sure goin barky. Also has FOUR offshoots growing. Base out: 1/2in, 1, 1, 1/2in

Middle trip: 15 + SIX OFFSHOOTS. Base out: 8.5in, 1, 1, 1, 1/4, 1

Top trip: 18in.

Right branch: 3in shoot!!

05/01/21– The triplet shoots~13&1/2in, 11in, 6in

Top branch shoot is 3in. Middle is 4&1/2. Bottom is 3in

05/08/21–The triplet shoots~15in, 12in, 8in

Left branch shoot: 3in. Middle: almost 5in. Right: 3in

05/16/21– The triplet shoots~16.5in, 13in + 2in offspring connected, 10in

Left branch shoot: 4in. Middle: 5in. Right: 3in

05/23/21– The triplet shoots~just under 17in, 15.5in + 2.5in offspring connected, 11in. Each of them has lost some leaves near the base? I’m not sure what that means but they were all old leaves from before twiggy got planted.

Think they might get brown like real branches soon.. But maybe they won’t till winter?? Idk how plants work

The Birth-day (02/11/21)

Ever since I was a little girl, my grandparents selected for me a beautiful bouquet of roses and made sure they arrived on my birthday, February 11th. But the point worth mentioning here is that this year, the bouquet also included these decorative little twigs which I thought for sure were fake.

Prompted by a lingering rumor, I decided to cut the tips of all the stems off before settling my bouquet into its new vase. Some where I had heard that this made flowers last longer. I thought, eh, it’s worth a try and did it.

Little did I know that this would be the exact thing which would enable my decorative branches to quietly grow, hidden beneath temporary beauty.

One day, several weeks after the excitement of my birthday ended, I looked over to the corner where my wilting roses sat and gasped! Green leaves! Where did they come from? Upon closer inspection I found they were growing from those decorative twigs that I had planned to throw out as soon as the last rose died. “AH! THERE’S NO SUN!” I snatched up the vase, tossed out the dead leaves/flowers, and rushed them to the nearest window.

As soon as I could, I called the florist whom had created by bouquet, and began researching how to take care of my new Birch Twigs.

I hope, Twiggitha, that you can forgive me in the afterlife for experimenting on you. Too much citrus in the plant food! Lord keep me from making the same next year! I hope you won’t fault me for trying to save you and planting you too early. Ik you were already shocked by the citrus.
